Privacy policy
The short version: PiDash collects nothing about you. The app talks to the board you run yourself, on your own network. We have no servers that see your data, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.
Who we are
PiDash and the PiDashboard board are made by Robin Koper (“we”). This policy covers the PiDash app for iPhone and iPad and this website.
What the app stores on your device
- Your board's address and a session token for it, kept in the iOS keychain.
- Your preferences: your dashboard layout, tab bar order, notification settings and quiet hours.
This stays on your device. It is removed when you sign out or delete the app; the tab bar order is kept across sign-outs until you delete the app.
What the app sends, and to whom
- To your own board only: your requests (for example acking an alert or opening a terminal) and, if you turn on notifications, your device's push token, so your board can notify you. Your board is software you run and control; we have no access to it.
- To your identity provider: you sign in through the OIDC provider your board is configured with (for example Authentik or Keycloak), in Apple's system login sheet.
- To Apple: push notifications are delivered by your board through the Apple Push Notification service. App downloads, purchases and crash reports you choose to share are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
- App updates: the app may check Expo's update service for a newer version of its code. That request carries technical information only (app version, platform and a random installation identifier), never your board's data.
Face ID
The app asks for Face ID (or your passcode) before actions that change something. This happens entirely on your device through iOS; the app never receives your face data.
What we do not do
- No analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs.
- No account with us, and no data sold or shared with third parties.
- No access to your contacts, photos, location or other personal data.
Local network
iOS may ask permission for PiDash to use your local network. This is only used to reach your board when it runs on your own network.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. The server hosting it may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security, for a limited time.
Your board
The board you run logs who performed which action (for example who acked an alert), for your own audit trail. You, as the operator of your board, are responsible for that data. See the board's security notes.
Children
PiDash is a tool for system administrators and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
